Welcome to MIOT.cc
The Organ Transplant Center of Excellence at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, led by Prof. Dieter Broering, in collaboration with Prof. Enrico Benedetti from the University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago, USA, is delighted to announce the upcoming Minimally Invasive Organ Transplant Consensus Conference (MIOT.CC), scheduled to take place from December 12 to 14, 2024, at the InterContinental Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This three-day conference will offer a comprehensive program that includes workshops and live demonstrations of robotic liver and kidney transplants for both donors and recipients. These sessions are designed to provide attendees with practical insights into the latest advancements in minimally invasive transplant techniques.
Day one will focus on live demonstrations, offering a unique opportunity to witness cutting-edge surgical practices in real time.
The second day is dedicated to forming a consensus on liver and kidney transplantation. Renowned experts will lead discussions and debates, providing valuable perspectives on current practices and future directions.
The final day will cover pancreas, lung, uterine and heart transplantation, expanding the scope of the conference to incorporate a broad range of minimally invasive organ transplantations.
The consensus process will follow the Danish Model, bridging the gap between experts. Working groups will prepare statements on specific questions, followed by debates with both experts and the audience. An independent jury of non-experts will then review these statements and make final recommendations.
This conference offers PubMed citable co-authorship for all collaborators and publications, ensuring that contributions are recognized in the wider medical community.
We aim to provide unified international evidence-based recommendations on Minimally Invasive Organ Transplantation (MIOT) and contribute to the global debate on advancing transplant medicine. Despite the limited high quality evidence available in the literature regarding some aspects of organ transplantation, a Consensus Conference among experts in this field is still justified to be conducted.
